"Intellectual curiosity is fundamental for personal growth, creativity and expanding our consciousness."
Meet Emily! Emily has explored nearly every American national park and completed a solo cycling expedition down the coast of California. Emily believes making learning engaging is key to the success of her students!
1. What inspired or interested you about teaching?
I was fortunate enough to have some excellent tutors and mentors throughout my education who really inspired me to achieve my best. I believe this catalysed my interest to tutor others and help them reach their goals.
2. How will you connect with your students?
I like to take a personal approach to teaching as I believe the more interesting I can make teaching the more content the student can retain and the more engaging the lesson will be.
3. Why are you interested in the subjects that you will be teaching?
I have always had a passion for Physics and Mathematics and a fascination with why and how things work. I think Physics is the most basic and fundamental science yet can really challenge our imagination. I was particularly fascinated in space throughout my studies and I underwent a degree in Physics at university.
4. How do you learn best?
Depending on the subject I learn using different methods. I complete as many questions as possible and learn from my mistakes. I like to use as many different resources, such as Youtube tutorials, textbooks and online sites, to get different perspectives on topics as a way to solidify the content.
5. Why did you choose TutorBright?
TutorBright has an excellent reputation and a great team working behind the scenes to make the tutoring as easy as possible. The staff are very passionate about providing the best service and education for their students.
6. Why is education something that you value? What is one of the most significant things you've learned during your own education?
Throughout my education I have realised that intellectual curiosity is fundamental for personal growth, creativity and expanding our consciousness. I believe that it is our innate drive to question and explore the 'why's' that brings us back to the desire to learn in the first place.
7. What is your vision for the future? What are you passionate about?
I am hoping to delve into the world of renewable energy, in particular solar energy, at a crucial turning point in our worlds energy uses. I am passionate about making a positive change in the world especially how we think of energy in hope to promote a global consciousness in time to counteract the climatic tipping point.
8. If you could make any changes to the education system in Australia, what would they be?
After spending many years studying in America and the UK I believe the Australian education system is fantastic. Perhaps encouraging a better connection between school and sports, and in general creating a greater school spirit and pride.
9. Tell us a fun/interesting fact about yourself!
I very much enjoy travelling and so spent three months renovating a van and travelling across America in it with a couple of my Australian friends, exploring almost every national park from coast to coast. I also underwent a solo cycling expedition down the coast of California in which turned out to be the most challenging week of my life.
